This perennial shrub is native to Texas and Mexico. It is known by its popular blooming dwarf cultivar. The bright green leaves of the Tecoma Stans are flattered by the abundance of yellow, trumpet shaped flowers. New growth appears in spring and spans through fall.

The plant is ideal for any Texas landscape. It works best with well-drained soils. Pruning is not necessary until the first frost when the plant is killed back to the ground. With good mulching, the roots can survive, allowing the shrub to return in spring.

This plant is a member of the Plants for Texas program.
