The Xylosma is a native plant of China. Although commonly grown as a shrub, it can be pruned into tree form. It is ideal for privacy screens, windbreaks, and foundation plantings because of its growth pattern. The Xylosma grows wide then tall.
The new foliage of the Xylosma starts as a red to bronze color then turns glossy green. It grows on long, arching stems. In the early fall, yellow-green blossoms appear. They are followed by small black fruits. The Xylosma is an evergreen, but will drop its leaves if exposed to freezing temperatures.
It is not susceptible to plant or pest diseases.
